I am definitely a big-bag-over-small-ones kind person. I enjoy bringing all things I “may” need and my friends always rely on me for anything they may use “once-a-lifetime”. “Hey, Kurt, do you happen to have a marker?” “Can I have some Vitamin-C from you? My throat hurts.” “Hey, can I borrow your lip balm”? Yeah, it happens all the time, and I have to say, I enjoy being a “have-them-all” kinda person among my friends. More importantly, I enjoy the moment that when I need something, it is right next in my bag. Does this reflect the childhood I had? Insecurity, unsatisfied material needs? Maybe. So far, I have no intention to change that psychological situation, aka bringing everything I “may” need to fill my insecurity.
I guess the biggest struggle is that a big bag is heavy itself – if it is a good quality one, especially a leather carryall. For example, the Bally Leather Travel Bag that I have been using for over 3 years, is extremely heavy since the thick leather and heavy-duty metal details. But the great thing about it is that it has a great structure so that you won’t get lost among all your personal things inside the bag. Remember the Louis Vuitton speedy 30 or 35 trend period? Always loved a retro structured doctor bag, but the extra tough handle, the beautiful side handle on the side, the heavy zippers etc make this bag extremely heavy. Oh, this also comes with straps that will make it a backpack! That is probably why Gucci made it small enough so that I cant not put my 15″ Macbook pro in it. 🙁
