You might have read from our recent ‘FROM LONDON TO MILAN: Autumn/Winter 2016 MEN STREETSTYLE & DESIGNER RUNWAY TRENDS’ article about how major military and khaki tones are as trends in 2016 and it’s only getting bigger and better as exhilarating army bad-ass tones for Autumn/Winter 16! So you’re probably wondering how to wear these colours into your everyday outfit just like a fashion blogger. Well my fashion friend, good thing you’re in the right place because Bloggers Boyfriend and his partner in crime Karen Woo are showing you how it’s done!
1Keep the Colour Palette right. Since we have sprung into Autumn, keep the colour palette tones woody, warm and nutty as these hues are great substitutes to the typical go-to all black and navy silhouettes and to transition well with these appropiate seasonal colours for your military look. The colours should depict a calming vibe and somewhat can add an extra pop to add a bit of excitement without adding anything too bold or bright.
2Play with the material contrast- Yes it’s about being tone-downed and more neutral in colour but we didn’t say you should look boring! Tailor your outfit to add a bit variation with textures like a black leather backpack with a suede dark military green coat and woollen khaki pants.3Play with silhouette- If you are a Kinfolk kind of guy, no problem. We got smooth lines and minimal designs such as Paris label Sandro to back you up. Pair it with darker brown loose-fit wool trousers or flares and messy just-got-out-of-bed hair to contrast these structured pockets.
4Add layering – You want warm colours to be the focal point this autumn, also challenge yourself to make everything interesting in depth by adding layers. In addition to your matt-ish khaki jacket accessorise with shiny leather boots, a grid scarf, mustard cardigan and a crispy collar shirt will definitely draw attention from stylish people such as Joan Watson.
5Play Minimalism – Common military pieces are complicaterised by their brass buttons, camouflage prints, shoulder badges, wool material (which add volume due the heavy, structured and multiple layering). For a fresher look, pair it with washed jeans, crew-neck summer t-shirts, over-worn-effect brown ankle boots, hiking boots and grey knitted socks; or simply cape it outside your summer outfit, such as Giotto Calendoli.
6Maximise it – Be bold and be a maximalist, head to toe khaki hues and warm earthy tones. The best way to balance the whole maximal look is via a washed denim jacket or shirt, with a shearling collar? Material contrast ! For the detail attention-ers, add suede sneakers to polish the look.
Last but not least, just as much as looking good, make sure you feel good and that’s for both physically and mentally. Also, make sure you feel comfortable, don’t put yourself in a situation where you feel too warm or too tight….. #Beyourself #BeFree
