How unique can a hotel be? How about staying in a castle?
Alila Fort Bishangarh, the most unique hotel I have ever experience, located only 2 hours drive from Jaipur, which became our India trip’s first stop. of couse.
Perched on top of a granite hillock in the midst of a vast expanse of the Aravalli Range, surrounded by hills dotted with villages and temples, Alila Fort Bishangarh is legendary amongst heritage hotels for the adaptive reuse of a 230-year-old warrior fort. It is one of India’s most unique heritage buildings.
There are lots of things to do while you staying at the Fort Bishangarh. Inside or outside the Bishangah village, the Alila guides are ready to take you. They knows everything and almost everyone from the village. The village was much smaller before the Alila hotel was established, now there are more and more people are settled down here as the population Alila hotel brought.
A work of passion and endurance spanning almost a decade, transformed this historic fort into the stunning Alila Fort Bishangarh. It is not only an historical experience but also an architecturally rich experience. Since the location and the unique structure of the fort, transportation and construction of the Alila hotel was challenging, not only all the material has to be delivered to the top of the dune, but also every room has to be built differently since the original shapes of the fort. Early in the morning, we can not only enjoy the view on top of the fort while having our breakfast, but also spot parrots and many other birds in vibrant colours gathered around the fort, with children’s singing from the village school as the background music.
Surprisingly, the Alila Fort Bishangah experience are extremely affordable as well.
