HOW TO DECORATE A MINIMAL AND INDUSTRIAL SPACE FOR CHRISTMAS – IN COLLABORATION WITH WEST ELM AUSTRALIA

December 17, 2016

To prepare for an onslaught of festive guests, we needed to liven up this sleek-yet-sombre Bloggers Boyfriend HQ. Instead of trees and tinsel, we opted for a glamorous, masculine update.

Probably similar to many Manhattan residents, we Melbourne bachelors tend to gravitate towards minimalist, industrial-inspired decor in our inner-city apartments and work spaces. And while we love our grey concrete, chrome accents, desaturated hues and neutral accessories, the overall effect doesn’t always scream ‘warm, welcoming + festive’ to visiting family and friends.

I came up with a few simple ideas to instantly help my home become more holiday-friendly. Read below for the rest of the story.  Continue Reading…

WHY MINIMALISTS APPRECIATE UNIQLO SO MUCH

December 16, 2016

Phases and words such as “tough work”, “hurry up” or haste” don’t seem to belong in the dictionary at Uniqlo Australia. Uniqlo Australia is your very own sanctuary, even on a weekday. Everything here is relaxed and can be minimal if you want it to be.

During the past a few years, I have totally switched from a maximalist to a minimalist under my minimal friends’ influences. My personal lifestyle and style are no longer about the shock value and the draw-attention-outfits but the comfort, effortlessness, timelessness and the finer details in life.  Continue Reading…

BACHELOR LIVING INTERIOR INSPIRATIONS DIRECTLY FROM BLOGGERS BOYFRIEND HQ

November 20, 2016

There’s no doubt that when you don’t wanna get out of bed and go to work, imagining that faded white office cubical that separates identical sets of tasteless stationary and furniture that your boss got a good price on, probably doesn’t help. There’s nothing like the excitement of a home office that’s so “Pinterest-interior-porn-material” that you’ll find hard to resist spending unhealthy amount of time in it.

Here at Bloggers Boyfriend x Beige Renegade HQ, we’ve redesigned our space more oftan than our outfits, literally. Watch out, it may be completely different tomorrow, again.

However, no matter how many changes we make around our creative studio, Jiawa and I are always sticking to our minimalism roots, with a combination of Scandinavian style feminine modernism and Melbourne’s industrial warehouse inspired masculinity. Housed under this light filled concrete and glass creation by Perth local architect David Weir, listing, moving and drilling is going on day and night.

10 REASONS WHY CHOOSIN’ THE RIGHT COAT IS AS IMPORTANT AS CHOOSING THE RIGHT BOYFRIEND

November 15, 2016

All the men in the world won’t all pick the same coat just like you won’t pick the same ( kinda) boyfriend. Some people like long heavy wool coats and others, light-weight and easy-to-carry coats, just as some would prefer Tom Hardy rather than Leonardo DiCaprio.

You think you might as well get a cheap one, what’s the difference right? Do you want a cheap boyfriend too? Picking out a coat is just like choosing your boyfriend, if it won’t affect you for your whole life at least will affect you for 3 month, more or less.

November 5, 2016

If you worried what to wear to traditionally feminine Oaks Day, here is advice from Calibre: Take a masculine twist with appreciation for the finer details.

Embrace lighter hues and adopt a tasteful pastel palette. Bring out your adventurous side with splashes of bold patterns and prints and you’ll be in for the win.

Pair a gorgeous natural linen suit with a slim fit European cotton shirt and finish the look with pastel accessories and polished tan leather shoes for a fool-proof ensemble.

November 5, 2016

Words such as “work”, “hurry” or haste” don’t seem to belong in the dictionary at Assembly Label. Assembly Label is your very own sanctuary, even on a weekday. Everything here is relaxed and can be minimal if you want it to be.

HOW TO BUILD A LIFESTYLE AND WARDROBE — MY ENTIRE UNIQLO MEN’S COLLECTION —

October 29, 2016

Recently I had a friend in his 30s came to me for wardrobe advise. He’s one of these gents who dress expensive but does not lose bit fun in their outfits, always buy smart casual and classic pieces when shopping for their clothes. Like he’d dare to try some fresh trends and colours such as floral, pastel, pink, bright maroon and mustard; but he’s still very much into polo and cable knit kinda person. I recommended him a pair of Uniqlo camel trousers, he looks at me confused: “Really? looks plain and boring”.

We need to understand, for brands like Uniqlo Australia, it is not a designer brand would bring you runway statement pieces, but it is the brand helps you to pull off runway statement pieces and build up a lifestyle, it is a brand about low-profile, back-to-basics entertaining. Every garment mirrors the way a minimalist feels a great life should be: comfortable, slow, sensitive and engaging.
