During Milan Men’s Fashion Week, Beige Renegade and I visited Etro for their latest Spring Summer 2019 Men’s collection presentation –Natura Manifesta. From Keane Etro’s point of view, there are something more important and more urgent to know and to act on, than fashion itself.
Etro Spring Summer 2019 collection is presented among a man-made jungle, featuring bamboo forests and giant bird nests. Inspired by South Asia tropical islands, also relates to our planet earth. The entire presentation highlights the making process of fabric and garments within the fashion industry and the cost to the planet earth. Etro is urging people to know more about how much energy and resources are costing everyday and there are alternatives we can choose to save the earth.
The entire collection is also inspired by planet earth – lots of nature fabrics and prints. For example, hemp the fabric, only cost 500 litres of water to produce (per kilo) compare to cotton, which cost 20,00 litre of water to produce.
My look of the day – Etro trousers and lots of prints just like House of Etro – famous for their paisley prints and silky fabrics. Etro silk trousers via Luisa Via Roma. Alexander Wang bag (similar here), Celine Sunglasses, mesh sweater (similar here) and oversized Venetian shirt.
Same as usual, house of Etro is fall of prints and rich colours. Different from past, there are more details, and the prints are back to nature, such as leaves, bamboo and animal inspired patterns.
Python effect loafers are one of my key obsessions from 2019 collections, of course, Etro has left animals out of the process.
One of the highlight from the collection – bamboo print suits in nature fabric and a wide waistband with patch works.
Nature fabrics, environment-friendly fabric processing became the key messages of Etro for their 2019 collection.
At the end of the presentation, every guest is asked to take home tree seeds to plant. They are wrapped in Etro’s iconic silk pouches for some extra pleasure.
