On the second day, we travelled to KK’s new hotel on the beach – KK Beach Hotel. It is just a short fifteen-minute drive from Kahanda Kanda Hotel, where Adam and I stayed for our first night in Sri Lanka. Located on the west side of Habaraduwa, KK beach hotel is just 12km from Galle. There is a free ‘tuk- tuk’ shuttle for guests wishing to go for lunch or dinner at Kahanda Kanda, and guests from KK Beach can of course enjoy a free shuttle service if coming to KK Beach for lunch or dinner. The underlying factors for both hotels include the overall quality of the luxury experience that is delivered and the high level of personal service offered to guests by warm and friendly staff, not to mention their constant attention to detail.
KK Beach Hotel opened in December 2016 and is a contemporary beachfront boutique hotel with only 10 stunning suites. With oceanfront views of the Indian Ocean, the beachfront property has a more minimalistic style compared to our Peacock suite at Kahanda Kanda hotel. The contrast between wilderness jungle experience of Kahanda Kanda and the sea scenery of KK Beach provides a perfect transition of Sri Lanka’s natural environments and offers individualistic experiences from each of the hotels. Whilst there is concrete theme inside and out of the KK beach, the spacious and luxurious hotel is designed for a barefoot comfort where you can enjoy the beautiful views of the beach and as well be admired in the comfort of the balcony upstairs. When overlooking across the sand, you won’t notice too many people on the beach itself which gives you an even more peaceful experience with the soothing sounds of the ocean waves. Food at KK Beach are quite relaxing affairs and cooked with fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Meals that are served include fresh seafood BBQs (Monday’s & Fridays), traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry buffet(Wednesdays), Thai cuisines (Sundays) and three-course menu (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) which feature western dishes with a local twist.
