La Maison the House – the most photogenic riad from Marrakech that I know so far, recently went viral after Lily Rose and Tara Milk Tea’s posts on Instagram, now you have to wait until December to get a taste of this amazing place. Lily Rose and I were lucky enough to experience this amazing place in November and get to know the owner behind this place a little bit more during our trip to Morocco. Different from most other riads inside the Souk, there are lots of minimal elements here at Le Maison The House, such as concrete, cactus etc, the size of the pool is also quite generous compare to other riads. The owner of the riad, Nicole Francesca, is super lovely and welcomed us with food and Moroccan tea. She is passionate about Moroccan local craft works, arts, flea markets, looking at La Maison’s rooftop terrace, you will understand she is also into washed out colours and linens. She collects and re-creating the scenes within La Maison, which allows an experience away from tourism and vacation “stress” only a few steps from local life, a refuge for her as well as for sharing, with friends and world travelers passing by, design lovers, creatives, foodies and adventurers – an oasis of space and chilling out in the middle of a mingling local area in the ancient medina of Marrakech.
Nicole says, “In love with the eastern part of the medina, which remains the most authentic quarter with little tourism and only few guest houses, this part of the marrakech medina made it the perfect spot to set up this shelter and to experience colorful street markets, surrounded by the real buzzing local everyday life.”
