My heart skipped a beat when I saw Zhang Zheqiang‘s graduating collection “Much To Do About Nothing” – which won Euro Fashion Award 2018. So I was super excited to see the first designer – PSEUDONYM during CPHFW day one in Copenhagen. Also, feel very lucky to be the only few persons to wore them during Copenhagen Fashion Week – show off.
During CPHFW, Zhang & Pseudonym presented his debut collection after graduation, which held among a secret courtyard in the city. Once enter the venue, you see boys standing or sitting among all kinds of real flowers. I asked myself, is this a florist shop run by the Copenhagen stylish guys?
Cold hues and purple tones (or should I say the periwinkle family) dominated the collection, there are a mix of tailoring pieces and sportswear elements. Beautifully tailored pieces either in “very” structured material (just like his graduating style) worked with a slim cut or draping soft silk or thin wool-alike material teamed up with an oversized fit. Boys with silk-scarves around their head, made me think they just went back from the danish countryside or high mountains to get these fresh wildflowers.
Other “IT” elements such as sportswear-inspired pieces – bike or surfing tights, fitted instant-dry-alike materials with digital prints are something I am not sure should be categorised as sportswear by Zhang or fashion-forward “basic pieces” to style with simple trench coats.
