A Song for xx, who should be brave.
A Shoutout for xx, who has been brave.
Wearing Song For the Mute S/S 15 Double Breast Vest with Pointing Collar, A/W 15 Bucket Pant, Boxy T-shirt , Gucci Slippers
Me, crossed all over the Aus land to the west coast dunes, Sand faced, Jet-legged,all I wished was that I could stand there strong like Alice from Resident Evil.
If she could fight everything, I should be able to cope with the flu.
Excuse my stone cold absence from all my social medias when I had been so busy with my Sudafed nasal sprays, Lip-eze or here call it nose-eze,
before the spring summer 2016 runway even started yet , and realised this Ayumi song from my Sony walkerman is actually 16 years old:
“They always told me I was a strong child, they praised me for not crying, calling it admirable, so I pretend not to understand what they said. ”
“The sun is rising and I have to go, I can’t stay forever in the same place. ”
The album sold 1,451,910 copies in Japan in 1999 but I have only got inspired in 2015, no wonder I have been weaker than my flu.
Be brave now.
So I jumped out of bed, grabbed another box of Kleenex, drank another satchel of Lemsip, swallowed another 4 capsules of garlic and VitaminC, told myself I will have a sugarless diet, I swear, after the flu and The Sugar film. Like I did last time, without the Sugar Film. Well it is the time of the year, aka spring, when everybody got sick.
As talking about Spring, it is also the time of the year you can wear anything , literally. So when Song for the Mute offered as many fabrics as their designs and silhouettes, this would be the perfect time, even with flu, to style or to layer.
Song for the Mute is no stranger to any of you. That loose fit silhouette ? Paper, linen and destroyed silk textiles? water resistant wool ?
Bingo.
Like Alexander Wang, Melvin and Lyna look at the materials, they think it is the fabric that is the foundation of each of their collections.
Differently, I wouldn’t say Song for the Mute 2015 collection is too far removed from the reason I jumped out of bed, aka, A Song for xx.
Both aimed at self-enpowerment.
What I respect the most about the focus of Song For the Mute‘s Melvin and Lyna, is that it revolves wholly around the man as he wishes to be dressed only in
the finest fabric and the most elegant silhouettes. And we are talking about the man. Not the boy. This is not to say that Melvin and Lyna’s streamlined
bespoke fabrics lacks youth and humour, but to highlighting that only a man after all the learning and experiencing in style and life, would fully understand
what it feels like to be able to communicate with the masters ( aka the mutes ) behind these garments right at their flag-store studio.
Right there.
( I also realised Glebe is really close the city, right there, but with humble )
Every each item has passed Melvin and Lyna’s hands since months ago when which were just pieces of silk, linen or non-water-resistant-wool, till months later when they sit on the racks in
Glebe or SSENSE. ( may or may not attached with surprises aka water resistant shell )
